Brimham Rocks
The Wonder of Nidderdale: Brimham Rocks is an amazing collection of weird and wonderful rock formations, sculpted over centuries by ice, wind and rain. It makes a great day out for families, climbers, walkers and those wanting to enjoy the simple pleasures of fresh air and magnificent views. The strangely shaped rock formations tower over heather moorland, offering panoramic views across Nidderdale and to the Vale of York.
Let your imagination run wild as you explore the labyrinth of paths through this unique landscape. The surrounding moorland abounds with wildlife and there are picnic spots aplenty. In summer the heather flowers turn the moorland purple, attracting bees and butterflies. This intriguing landscape is like no other you will have seen.
Cared for by the National Trust, you will find a great schedule of activities, events and guided walks on offer at Brimham Rocks.
A little refreshment kiosk and a shop are onsite, open during the main season. At the visitor centre shop you can stock up on bilberry jam, or stop at the nearby kiosk for ‘grab & go’ refreshments. Nearby picnic tables and bike racks are located to give views of the rocks. A mobility vehicle can be hired free of charge, please call the office to book. Please see the website for up to date opening times.
As well as onsite parking, free for National Trust members, Brimham Rocks can be included on a beautiful 8 mile walk from Pateley Bridge, taking in part of the Nidderdale way, along the high northern side of the valley, and back via the tranquil banks of the River Nidd.
Brimham Rocks is dog friendly and free to explore for everyone, all year round. Car Park charge apply - £6 for 4 hours and £9 for all day, parking is free for National Trust members.
