From the Edwardian spa visitors to the modern exhibition and conference delegates, Harrogate has a long history of being the gracious host - our town becomes yours!

The team at Harrogate's Mercer Art Gallery curate an eclectic mix of installations and exhibitions, from guest pieces borrowed from partners such as the National Portrait Gallery or Tate Modern, to carefully selected works from the Harrogate collection that the team care for.  Among the most notable pieces are those by John Atkinson Grimshaw, much admired for his use of light in urban nocturnal scenes.

The town routinely welcomes national conferences, exhibitions and events to one of its purpose-built event venues such as the Harrogate Convention Centre or Pavilions of Harrogate.  The many private art galleries and local groups also arrange exhibitions throughout the year of varied topics, from photography to ceramics and artisan crafts.
