HSO presents a special concert to celebrate two notable anniversaries. The first is the 50th anniversary of the death of English Composer Sir Arthur Bliss, celebrated by a performance by Lily Dai of his Cello Concerto. The second anniversary celebrates the 40th anniversary of Bryan Western's tenure as Conductor and Musical Director of the orchestra. In that time, he has brought the group from a small chamber orchestra to a large symphony orchestra performing a wide range of music from the professional repertoire. The cello concerto is flanked on either side by Elgar's overture "Cockaigne" and the beautiful Fifth Symphony by Vaughan Williams.
