February half term at Fountains Abbey
Head to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal this February half term (Saturday 15 February - Sunday 26 February) for some live storytelling, crafting, winter spotting and charcoal making.
Springo spotter sheet - Saturday 15 to Sunday 26 February, 10am to 4pm
Look up and get your head stuck in the clouds. Head to the bird hide to spot some of our feathery friends. Count how many snowdrops you can find. If you look closely in the ponds, can you spot any frog spawn? If the rain decides to pour, put your wellies on and - if you're brave enough - splash in some puddles. Pick up your Springo spotter sheet from any admission point and head on your adventure.
Live storytelling with author Em Lynas - Tuesday 18 February at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm
Head to Swanley Grange Workshop join a live storytelling session and craft activity all about the beautiful new picture book Annabelle and Flower by author Em Lynas. Little ones will love learning about the changing seasons and creating their very own paper flower meadow to take home.
Children's tickets must be booked in advance. Please note that adults don't need to book tickets but there is limited space in Swanley Grange Workshop so additional adults may need to stand around the sides of the room. Tickets are free with standard admission and will be available to book soon.
Making charcoal and sound maps - Thursday 20 and Friday 21 February, drop in any time between 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-3.30pm.
Join the ranger team in Swanley Grange who will teach you how to make a fire responsibly, burn sticks safely and create charcoal. Once you’ve made your charcoal, head to Swanley Garden to create your own sound map. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, listen to what’s going on around you and then try to draw where those sounds are coming from on your paper.
