Harrogate Choir Celebrates 20th Anniversary of ‘Circlesong’

In 2004, British composer Bob Chilcott first heard his dramatic and joyful choral work ‘Circlesong’ performed in the UK. Twenty years on, he has worked with the Harrogate Choral Society to bring the piece to Yorkshire.

The choir will perform Circlesong alongside the award-winning Scunthorpe Cooperative Junior Choir on Saturday 20th April at 3pm in St. Wilfrid’s Church, Harrogate. Both choirs will be conducted by David Lawrence, the choral society’s Music Director.

Circlesong’s central theme is life – from birth, through youth, to becoming an elder and then to death. Weaving in and out of the central theme are the spiritual and practical teachings learnt from animals and the wider world.

Before Circlesong is performed in the second half of the concert, the audience will be treated to a wide variety of percussive and choral pieces that promise to fill St Wilfrid’s Church with the sound of fanfare and sumptuous harmony.

Tickets for the afternoon concert are available to buy through the Harrogate Theatre Box Office. £15 or £5 for under 16s and students. Phone 01423 502116 or order online at: www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk/events/circlesong/
