This lecture is on the replacement for Wilfrid’s great dedication Gospel Book, specially commissioned by Archbishop Oswald when he rebuilt the basilica in Ripon after its destruction in 948. This sumptuous tenth-century replacement has recently been identified as a manuscript now owned by the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York.
