This concert will include a number of choral pieces on the theme of Remembrance and some written in time of war. Some of the composers featured have local connections including Harrogate composer Ernest Farrar, who was killed in action a few weeks after performing in the Royal Hall and there will be a lovely setting of John McCrae’s evocative poem In Flanders Field, which inspired the use of the poppy as a symbol of Remembrance.
The concert covers a wide variety of musical styles including some choral gems as well as some lighter numbers, so do come along for what promises to be a delightful evening of music with something that will appeal to all tastes. There may even be an opportunity for audience participation in some WWI songs!
You will also be able to view the fantastic exhibition that is currently on display at West Park during the evening too.
