Appearing at the club this month are*:
Tom Wrigglesworth
Tom Wrigglesworth is an established Stand-Up comedian, Radio and TV presenter and voice-over artist from Sheffield, England. He is best known for his live storytelling shows and BBC Radio comedy programmes which take a comical and emotional look at family relationships. Alongside his comedy work, he’s used his engineering background to become a natural and engaging presenter for BBC Television and The Discovery Channel.
Simon Lomas
Simon Lomas is regarded as one of the most exciting and refreshing new acts on the circuit. Already making big waves, this ungainly and socially awkward geek will doubtless go on to big things as his distinctive style is matched by superb jokes with a highly unique delivery. In 2016 he won both the Southport New Comedian of the Year and the Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year, followed in 2017 by winning Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year and the Nottingham Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and then the Petfringe Comedian of the Year in 2018. He was nominated for several further awards, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2018, Chortle Awards Best Newcomer 2018, North West Comedy Awards Best Breakthrough 2019 and North West Comedy Awards Best Act 2020.
Sharon Wanjohi
Sharon Wanjohi is an up and coming stand up comedian with a varied act ranging from shock to absurd comedy. A Chortle Student Comedy Award Finalist and Funny Women Stage Award Finalist, with 2 years on the circuit, she talks (maybe too much) about children's films and the cartoon dilfs that inspired a generation of sexual awakenings. And she thinks Ratatouille is a commentary on race. In 2022 Sharon featured in the Channel 4 online series Jokes Only A … Can Tell.
Meryl O’Rourke
Acclaimed stand-up comic and TV writer Meryl O'Rourke –revels in her bitterness. She has delighted comedy audiences, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts (last one to 12,000 people!). She recently became the first winner of the Betty and Peter/Big Talk/LOCO writing prize, where she was gifted a chunk of money to help her write her first sitcom. She has been a regular support for Frankie Boyle since 2010 where she opened for him at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book Work!Consume!Die! he calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny".
