Mavka: The Forest Song Supported by Harrogate Film Society & Harrogate Odeon
The Ukrainian Community have particularly requested that the film is screened in English as they want to welcome the whole Harrogate Community, adults and children, to enjoy this special film with them.
We are also very proud and honoured that an artist living in Kyiv has produced a beautiful card especially for our screening.
Original Ukrainian Title - Mavka: Lisova pisnya | Animation/Fantasy/Comedy | 2023 | PG | 99 mins.
Drawing on mythology, this Ukrainian animated fairytale is a surprising and poignant story for today's audiences. The Forest Song centres on Mavka, a kind forest spirit who signals the coming of spring. The animation style is reminiscent of modern movies and current high standards of production.
Mavka - a soul of the Forest - faces an impossible choice between love and her duty as guardian to the Heart of the Forest, when she falls in love with a human - the talented young musician Lukash. Our story is about the magical power of love. That kind of love that enables human nature to find the magic within and reveals abilities and qualities that empower a person to reach beyond possible and to hold against evil and human vice.
Your ticket will also include a tea, coffee or soft drink. A small processing fee will be applied to all tickets. These can be purchased online here or will be available on the door - (contactless payments only please, we are not taking cash this season).
Please note that doors open at 6.30pm but the film will start at 7pm. All seating is unreserved so grab a seat wherever you like. Parking is free after 6pm for all Odeon cinema-goers but you MUST display a voucher obtained from the Odeon lobby.
There are several wheelchair spaces available in Screen 5 but you must get in touch with the society to reserve a space, if required. Email us - contact.harrogatefilmsociety@gmail.com
