Jimi Hendrix presented by Harrogate Film Society
Harrogate Film Society is pleased to announce our third film in Season 1 of our Music Legends Series.
This event will take place at Bilton Club (previously known as Bilton Working Men's Club). This community venue has a fantastic function room with it's own bar, a self-contained PA system and disabled access.
Films will be projected onto a screen based on the stage and we are pleased to bring you brilliant films to enjoy.
Jimi Hendrix | 1973 | June 21 | 7pm | Music Biography & Documentary | 98 Mins |
Venue - Bilton Club on Skipton Road
Offstage he was withdrawn, almost shy. Onstage, he strapped on his kiss-the-sky Stratocaster and shattered all notions of how a guitar could be played.
This definitive documentary was the first authorised effort to detail his celebrated life and career. Hendrix's family and close friends are joined by such rock legends as Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend and Little Richard, each presenting their own memories of the greatest rock guitarist of all time.
Full-length concert performances from the Monterey, Woodstock and Isle of Wight Festivals, London's Marquee Club and the Fillmore East. From a blazing Purple Haze to a driving Machine Gun to a flamboyant Wild Thing to a soulful Hear My Train A Comin'.
Each movie will be introduced by Harrogate author and broadcaster, Derek Shelmerdine. He will set the scene for the film and provide insight into the background. Derek is the author of Rock'n'Roll Unravelled, which tells the story of rock'n'roll from its roots to late 70's punk.
Places are limited to 80 for this initial event so we can assess capacity and ensure a great viewing experience for everyone. Book your tickets here on our website, at any of our events or on the door.
(FYI, it is possible to become a member of Bilton Club. Please note, this is completely unrelated to HFS membership. Please check out their website for more details. There are several benefits to being a member, including discounted drinks and Club event tickets which are up to 50% cheaper, along with several trips and social events each year. ) https://biltonwmc.co.uk
