CWGC International Women's Day Tours - Stonefall Cemetery, Harrogate
To mark International Women's Day, join us for a guided tour of the war graves of the females commemorated at Stonefall Cemetery, Harrogate.
With over 1000 Commonwealth War Graves, Stonefall Cemetery is one of the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission sites in the North of England. Nearly all of the casualties are airmen from the Second World War but six women are commemorated at the site too.
To mark International Women's Day, join us for a walk around the cemetery to learn about the work of the CWGC and the stories of the six service women commemorated at Stonefall. These casualties include women who served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, Women's Auxiliary Air Force and the Territorial Army Nursing Service.
Tours are taking place on Sunday 5th March and Wednesday 8th March at 10:30, 11:00, 13:00 and 13:30.
Please note: The starting point for the tour is in front of the Crematorium - please be mindful that on weekdays cremations and funerals might be taking place.
Please come dressed for the weather. The tour involves walking on grass as well as paths and will last for approximately 90 minutes.
You can park within the cemetery (be mindful that the gates for vehicles are locked at 1600 at weekends and 1630 weekdays). There is a public toilet near the main entrance from Wetherby Road.
