120th Anniversary Celebration
120th Anniversary Celebration - free admission.
The Royal Hall Restoration Trust is delighted to host a celebration of 120th anniversary of the opening of the unique iconic building that is the Royal Hall. A diverse range of musical entertainment is planned throughout the day to showcase the versatility of this venue.
Sit for a while in the Grand Circle or Dress Circle and let your imagination take you back to the Hall’s Edwardian heyday when visitors would stroll around the building listening to the entertainment on offer. The Grand Hall’s sprung dance floor will be cleared for dancing apart from tables for afternoon tea.
The stage will be open to provide visitors with a unique view of the Hall – however we would ask that you please remain still and quiet if artists are performing. The dressing rooms will also be open to explore.
The morning entertainment starting at 10am is given over to music and singing ranging through classical music, choral favourites, Gilbert and Sullivan and Harrogate Spa Town Ukes playing rock and pop standards.
From 2pm the Darren Busby Duo will provide music for line dancing and for those of you who prefer to waltz and foxtrot, from 3pm the Harrogate Symphony String Quartet will play until 4pm. The Stray Notes and Catherine Field-Leather are also performing.
Afternoon Tea will be available from 12noon until 3pm and must be pre-booked. The cost is £17.50, paid in advance. Sittings will be for one hour. Bookings can be made via the Royal Hall Restoration Trust website. Alternatively, telephone 01423 500500 or email enquiries@rhrt.org.uk
Bookings for Afternoon Tea close on Wednesday 17 May.
Programmes will be available for a donation which will go towards the ongoing work of the Restoration Trust. All donations are very gratefully received.
