For over 37 years, the Tannin Level has been one of Harrogate’s most renowned and best loved restaurants.

About the Tannin Level

Staunchly independent, it proudly showcases the best our great county has to offer. From Light Lunches and Delicious Sandwiches, Pre-Theatre dinners and our legendary Midweek Menu, through to the full A La Carte experience, The Tannin Level offers something for everyone.

About our Restaurant…

Our Restaurant is on the lower ground floor of a Victorian Yorkshire Mansion and is deceptively spacious. We have 90 covers spread over 3 lovely dining rooms encompassing quiet corners and alcoves; perfect for a romantic evening, family dinner or a catch-up with friends. The exposed brick and stone are original, as are the foundry tiles on the floor, all of which date back over 150 years. The old brick and stone are complemented by wood and leather, and flickering candles on every table complete the unique ambience which can only be The Tannin Level.

About our Food…

Our philosophy is very simple; Yorkshire on a plate… the finest local, seasonal ingredients sourced wherever possible from Yorkshire’s broad acres.

The provenance of our food is central to this philosophy. We believe that all our food should be responsibly sourced, so we only work with local, traditional, high-welfare farmers and fishmongers. We also want to keep our food miles to a minimum, and of course, we want our guests to feel good about what they eat.

About our Suppliers…

Our Beef, Pork and Lamb are Heritage Breed and naturally reared in Yorkshire pastures and woodland. All are sourced from award winning R&J’s in Kirkby Malzeard. Our Poultry is Free Range from award-winning Soanes Poultry at Church Hill Farm in East Yorkshire, and our fish comes from Hodgsons in Hartlepool (founded in 1919) whose catch is landed, processed and shipped to us daily which ensures the Fish we serve is as fresh as it can possibly be.

We believe that this philosophy translates into exceptional-tasting food and a dining experience which leaves our guests understanding that quality, sustainability and animal welfare are at the very heart of everything we do.
