Nestled just outside York, Stillingfleet Lodge Garden & Nursery is a beautifully-planted, four-acre family garden created and nurtured over 40 years by Vanessa and John Cook. This organically managed haven is both wildlife-friendly and quintessentially English in character.

Explore a variety of themed garden areas surrounding the traditional farmhouse, including a double herbaceous border, wildlife pond, formal rill garden, wildflower meadow and a vegetable garden, all designed to balance lush cottage-garden beauty with rich wildlife habitat.

Wildlife Garden

See for yourself how managing a garden for wildlife can be both beautiful and beneficial: we leave seed-heads to feed birds, provide insect-friendly habitat, and create safe places for hedgehogs to hibernate. Let the garden inspire you to turn your own outdoor space into a wildlife haven.

Plant Nursery

Visit our well-stocked plant nursery, where you’ll find many unusual perennials—around 90 % grown on site. We specialise in hardy geraniums and pulmonarias, offering an extensive selection both in the garden and available to purchase.

Tea Room

After your visit, relax in our charming Tea Room with a slice of cake and a cup of tea, while enjoying rotating art exhibitions.
