Ripon Courthouse Museum
Step into the 1800s and explore the fascinating world of Victorian justice at the Ripon Courthouse Museum. Relive the history of the Liberty of Ripon by visiting the beautifully restored Georgian courthouse. It’s a unique experience for all ages, offering an immersive glimpse into the past.
Fun for All Ages
Dress up and act out historical trails, bringing history to life in this beautiful and imposing setting. Sit in the judge's chair, watch from the jury’s bench, or stand nervously in the dock. Become the characters of the courtroom and feel the tension of awaiting your sentencing.
Three Museums – One City
The Ripon Courthouse Museum is one of three Ripon Museums located in the heart of the city.
Alongside the humbling Ripon Workhouse & Garden and the evocative Prison & Police Museum, visitors can trace a historic journey from poverty to crime and punishment.
From England's most complete workhouse to the cells of the prison and the dock of the courthouse, the three Ripon Museums offer a full day out with plenty of hands-on activities and a unique opportunity to understand how history impacts our lives today, while exploring ways to create a fairer society.
