Walking in the great outdoors
The Harrogate district offers some fantastic opportunities for enjoying the great outdoors on foot. Whether you are looking for somewhere to stretch your legs, escape the confines of the house or recharge and refresh yourself with a walk in the countryside we have plenty of options with stunning views.
We are very lucky to have many beautiful open spaces to explore across the Harrogate District where we can get out, relax and savour the fresh air. Exploring new places, especially outside is important for our health and wellbeing.
From the gentle walking trails around our market towns to the impressive 49 miles of the Ripon Rowels walk, there are walking routes to suit all abilities.
If you like your walk to take you past beautiful flowerbeds and have the promise of afternoon and cake at both the start and finish then the genteel stroll from Valley Gardens, Harrogate to RHS Harlow Carr would be the ideal choice.
For historic interest you might choose Ripon to Fountains Abbey, Prosperous Lead Mines Trail or Greenhow Geology Trail.
If you are are wanting a more adventurous or longer walk, you might consider one of the following: the 20 mile Harrogate Ringway, or the 38 mile Six Dales Trail.
