A place to feel good - Turkish Baths Harrogate

A spa break in the Harrogate district isn’t complete without a visit to the authentic Turkish Baths in the heart of Harrogate town centre. One of just seven remaining Victorian baths in the UK, none are as historically complete or in full working order as Harrogate's Turkish Baths.

An authentic experience awaits in this unique building with a journey of heating, cooling and cleansing the body, promising a sense of relaxation and a clear mind – making sure you head home feeling fully relaxed and rejuvenated.

Leave the stress of daily life behind you, pick up a towel and step inside to start your experience.

Begin with a cleansing shower, then it’s time to let off some steam in the steam room with calming eucalyptus infused steam to melt away muscle tension, open your pores and eliminate toxins. Next, cool off in the plunge pool, immerse yourself in the invigorating water and benefit from improved circulation and toning. Turn up the heat by exploring the various heat chambers which range from 40 to 70 degrees Celsius taking an invigorating dip in the pool in between. End in the cooling atmosphere of the Frigidarium – an elegant relaxation room.

A visit to the Turkish Baths will not only benefit the body but the mind too as you discover the history of the area’s spa heritage amongst this unique and wonderful building. Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, the Turkish Baths were built as part of the Royal Baths in 1897, historically guests would come to the Royal Baths and have three options to choose from. They could go through to the Winter Gardens to take the waters, enjoy the music and social life, visit the hospital where they would enjoy one of a variety of medical treatments on offer or they could go through to the Turkish Baths to relax and unwind.

Whilst the baths may not have the healing powers they were believed to have in times gone by, visitors still feel the benefits saying that the baths leave them feeling exhilaration, euphoria, total relaxation and absolute cleanliness, which sounds pretty good to us.
