How to celebrate Mother’s Day across Harrogate district
Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and so are spring days (hooray!). To help you celebrate the mother figure in your life, or just enjoy some lovely spring treats with family and friends, we’ve rounded up a few ways that you can mark Mothering Sunday across the Harrogate district.

Time for tea
Harrogate is the home of afternoon tea, assisted in no small part by the legendary Bettys Tea Rooms. The delicate display of tiny sandwiches, petit fours and delicious desserts are now a staple of Mother’s Day celebrations.
For a Traditional Afternoon Tea complete with cakes, clotted cream and macaroons, look no further than The Majestic Hotel or try The Crown Hotel in the centre of Harrogate.
For all flavours local, head to Fodder
at the Great Yorkshire Showground, where every delicious item on the plate is sourced from local farmers and producers.

You can always rely on Mama Doreen’s Emporium for a quirky take on a classic and the afternoon tea is no different. Yorkshire born and baked since 2009, Mama Doreen’s has a superb selection of fresh flavours and dainty slices to choose from.
Make yours a vegan option at the amazing Scarlett’s Vintage Tea Rooms, Knaresborough, full of wonderful flavours and tasty treats without any eggs or dairy, gluten free versions are possible here too.
For something sweet
If you’re looking for something sweet as a gift this Mother’s Day, here are our favourite luxe versions beautifully crafted by artisan chocolatiers across the Harrogate district, guaranteed to put a smile on someone’s face, we just can’t guarantee that they will share!
As a social enterprise supporting young adults with learning disabilities and using ethically sourced and sustainably grown ingredients, it’s an all-round feel-good experience when you taste a delightful, nutritious bar of chocolate from Harrogate Chocolate Factory, what’s not to love!

If you’re looking for a taste of nostalgia, why not try Farrah’s Olde Sweet Shop? This traditional Harrogate shop has been selling fine chocolates, confectionery and sweet treats since 1916. It’s so popular and such a Harrogate tradition that it moved to larger premises in 2004 where it continues to sell a wide range of olde-worlde sweets, and delicious English and Continental Chocolates.
